What is the utility of DevOps in the IT Domain?
DevOps has taken the IT industry by storm. DevOps tools and methods minimize wastage in the business processes, leading to better delivery of value to end users. DevOps is a software development approach. It involves a Continuous Approach. It is extending to other domains than the IT sector but its utility remains unchanged for users of the IT domain.
DevOps was first mentioned in Toronto Conference 2008 as a conflict resolution method saving Dev and Optime. DevOps is used to reduce the manual labor of the IT department.
The goal of DevOps is to control quality and increase the frequency of deployments. It allows risk-free experiments and enables to improve mean time to delivery and breakup. It helps to handle release failure without losing data. It sends an alert and monitors on early stages of system failure.
Under DevOps team development and operation are tightly coupled. Sometimes Security, Network, development, and Operation team is also involved and slowly it gets together and are known as DevSecOps. This makes them able to crack testing, development, firewall, monitoring, network and infrastructure accountability and accessibility.
DevOps workflow also ensures that we are spending time on the right thing that means that the time is utilized in building infrastructure or products. Once we merge processes and workflow diagram, it showcases a general DevOps environment.
DevOps value falls into two groups, business values and organization values enabling communication and collaboration. In the end, the product is fast delivered to the customer.
